Cloquet schools plan early release on Wednesdays
The new calendar will allow for a half-hour early dismissal on Wednesdays during the coming year. The time will be used for staff development programs and Scarbrough said the early dismissal will have minimal impact on students.

Commission tackles kennels, crushing and tax abatement

Richard Joseph Prevost
Richard "Dick" Joseph Prevost, 71, of Kettle River, Minn., passed away April 23, 2013, with his family by his side, after losing his 12-year battle to prostate cancer. Dick was born to Richard Joseph and Evelyn (Ward) Prevost Sr. on April 10, 1942, in Cloquet, Minn. He was a 1960 graduate of Cloquet High School and a longtime employee of Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company in Duluth, Minn. He also worked for and retired from Edina Realty. Dick was an avid reader, painter, Catholic Church choir member, "garage saler" and gardener. He loved to hunt, fish, tell jokes and stories. "How big did you say those deer and fish were?" Though he had all girls, everything he was passionate about has been passed down through the generations.

Evelyn Margaret (McKeever) Gooder, 103, of Duluth, Minn., the last survivor of the McKeever siblings, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Duluth. She was born Dec. 4, 1909, in Duluth to Edward and Elizabeth (Supple) McKeever. Evelyn, the youngest of eight children, was a 1927 graduate of Cathedral Girls School, followed by a St. Mary's Hospital and St. Scholastica nursing degree.
