Two arrested after gun fired in dispute Sunday
On Sunday, Nov. 11 at approximately 11:30 PM police responded to the area of Blue Spruce Drive in the City of Cloquet on the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation, where witnesses stated that two individuals had gotten into an argument at a residence when one of the individuals was threatened with a gun. It was reported that shots were fired, but no one was injured.

But the Carlton County Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) just keeps packing ’em in year after year for its annual banquet. This year’s 30th anniversary celebration, held last Thursday at the Four Seasons Sports Complex in Carlton, was no exception.

Kenneth Woodrow Keuhn
Kenneth Woodrow Keuhn, 95, of Carlton, Minn., formerly of Ely, Minn., passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. He was born Nov. 2, 1916, to Charles W. and Bessie (Ellsworth) Keuhn in Mercer County, Mo. He attended grade school in Missouri, North Dakota and Minnesota. In the summer of 1935 and again in the winter of 1936-1937 Ken was enlisted with the Civilian Conservation Corps working in Minnesota and the state of Washington. While working on his sister's farm near Thief River Falls he met the girl he was looking for - Ruth Myhrer - and married her on Nov. 25, 1939. They moved to Ely in 1951 where he worked in logging and mine construction. He retired from DNR Fisheries in 1978 after 16 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, hobby farming and wood crafts in retirement. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Ely, Ely Senior Citizens and Ely Garden Club.
