Leonard Edwin Tillman
Leonard Edwin Tillman, 88, of Anchorage, Alaska, died of natural causes on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. Leonard was born March 22, 1924, in Cloquet, Minn. After completing high school, he served in the Army. He was a soldier in the 89th Infantry Division, serving in World War II from 1942-1946. His division was involved in the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp. He married his wife, Barb Quinn, also from Cloquet, in 1947. They resided in Minnesota, then Colorado for several years, before moving to Eagle River, Alaska in 1967.

Lois Audrey Anderson, 93, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. She was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Cloquet to Carl and Mary (Delarosby) Johnson and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1938. Lois worked for Northwest Paper Company and also as a clerk for the Ben Franklin store and the S&L store. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, National Catholic Society of Foresters, Spring Lake Birthday Club, and the Legion of Mary. Lois was also a volunteer for the Carlton Nursing Home and Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life.

Larry Dean Allen was born Nov. 16, 1955, to Clarence and Elaine Allen at the University of Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Duluth, Minn., after same-day surgery at the age of 56 years. Larry grew up and went to school in Rush City, Minn. He lived in many different cities and towns. Most recently, he lived in Cloquet, Minn., with his very devoted and loving partner, Brenda Angell. Larry treated Brenda's three children (Cosandra Angell, Candice Angell and Crystal Angell) and nine grandchildren as his own.

Anna Marie Locke, 85, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Cloquet to Vincent and Anna (Dufault) Lemieux and was united in marriage to Frederick "Fred" L. Locke on Aug. 3, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cloquet. Anna worked in the state of Washington for the government during World War II. She was the secretary for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and also an accountant for the Fond du Lac Reservation, and retired as director of food distribution for Fond du Lac. She was a lifelong member of Queen of Peace Parish, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Foresters, the Hebert-Kennedy VFW Auxiliary, and was a volunteer for Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minn.

Beatrice E. Johnson, 87, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Sunnyside Health Care Center, Cloquet. She was born April 6, 1925, in Scanlon, Minn., to Ernest and Lillian (Schilling) Ehrman and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1943. Beatrice was a lifelong Cloquet resident and a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Hebert-Kennedy VFW Post 3979 Auxiliary. She loved spending time at the family cabin at Prairie Lake which they had for over 22 years.

Elisabeth Munter Waselk, 88, of Chisholm, Minn., formerly of Mahtowa, Minn., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012. Elisabeth was born on Sept. 5, 1924, to Josef and Elisabeth (Fieirsinger) Gratz in Schwoch, Austria. She married Edwin Munter on Jan. 28, 1947, in Mahtowa. After his death in 1977, Elisabeth married Peter Waselk on Nov. 14, 1999, in Chisholm. Elisabeth was a homemaker and also worked at Stearn's in Carlton from 1979 to 1987.

A Hill City man died on the way to Community Memorial Hospital last Thursday after being electrocuted on a job site near Wright. Richard Roy Washburn, 30, was employed with Ulland Brothers at the time of the accident.
