Sandra Lee Merrill, 46, of Cloquet, Minn., died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in her home with her loving family by her side. She was born Jan. 31, 1966, in Cloquet to Adolph and Esther Fagre. Sandy grew up in Saginaw, Minn., and attended Alborn Grade School and AlBrook High School. From 1994 until 1999 she worked at the Cloquet Little Store. Forest Stillwell
Forest Stillwell, known as “Cuds” and “Rev. Ply,” 79, of Carlton, Minn., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth, Minn. He was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Cloquet, Minn., the son of Forest and Evie Stillwell. Forest was a 1954 graduate of Cloquet High School and later served in the U.S. Air Force. As a child he was a member of Boy Scouts and attended many camps and activities. On June 11, 1966, Forest married Ingeborg Hertel. Forest was the owner/operator of the Kings and Queens Salon at the Greysolon in Duluth, but when he wasn’t working he loved to be outside working on his many rock and flower gardens. One of Forest's greatest passions was restoring old Mopar cars, and that passion followed through as he detailed cars at Carlton Motorwerks for many years. Forest loved spending time with his family at the cabin, going on long car trips all over the country, and eating out, especially at a good German restaurant.

Arvin Frederick Henry Shipley of Esko, Minn., will be celebrating his 70th birthday as he enters the heavenly kingdom, being called to his eternal home on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. Arvin, called "Fred" by all who knew him, was born on Jan. 9, 1943, in Cloquet, Minn., the second child of Arvin B. "Dude" and Edythe (Youngkrantz) Shipley. He lived the first 12 years of his life in Scanlon. While in Scanlon, Fred had many friends in the community. At this time, Fred began his interest in automobiles: how they worked, and how to fix them if they didn’t work. Often, he and his dad had their hands and heads under the hood of a car.

Ritchie Allen Breitkreutz, 47, born July 22, 1965, in Cloquet, passed away Dec. 25, 2012. in Jackson, Mich., after a nine-month battle with cancer. He was a "Jack of all trades." If it was worth doing, it was worth doing it right in everything he did. Ritchie was a very devoted family man and he was a gun enthusiast. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Edward "Ed" Lawrence Stayton, 87, formerly of Cromwell, Minn., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minn. He was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Santa Clara, Calif., to Clarence and Edith (Ridgeway) Stayton. Ed was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from 1944 to 1946. Ed was united in marriage to Carroll McLellan on June 11, 1955, in San Jose, Calif. Ed enjoyed music, creative writing/poetry, drawing, antique automobiles and gardening.
