Richard Joseph Prevost
Richard "Dick" Joseph Prevost, 71, of Kettle River, Minn., passed away April 23, 2013, with his family by his side, after losing his 12-year battle to prostate cancer. Dick was born to Richard Joseph and Evelyn (Ward) Prevost Sr. on April 10, 1942, in Cloquet, Minn. He was a 1960 graduate of Cloquet High School and a longtime employee of Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company in Duluth, Minn. He also worked for and retired from Edina Realty. Dick was an avid reader, painter, Catholic Church choir member, "garage saler" and gardener. He loved to hunt, fish, tell jokes and stories. "How big did you say those deer and fish were?" Though he had all girls, everything he was passionate about has been passed down through the generations.

Lloyd W. Sunnarborg
Lloyd W. Sunnarborg of Esko and Prairie Lake, Minn., died Friday, April 5, 2013. He was born July 30, 1926, to John and Fanny (Carlson) Sunnarborg in Thomson Township (Esko), Minn., and graduated from Lincoln High School. In 1945 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, Pvt 1st Class, and honorably discharged on Oct. 31, 1946. He was a longtime member of the Esko Volunteer Fire Department and a certified Minnesota state snowmobile safety instructor. Lloyd married M. Lorraine Merfeld of Cloquet, Minn., on Sept. 4, 1948. He drilled water wells with his father before going to work for Northwest Paper (Potlatch) as a blacksmith, where he retired in 1978, to restart Sunnarborg Well Drilling with his son. The outdoors was his church, fishing the world over and hunting at the "Great Silence," the wind at his back, the crunch in the forest, babbling of the brook, spray of the sea. "Lord take me by your side and guide my path to your great peace." Lloyd was a master angler of the province of Manitoba since 1967. He sold Skiroule snowmobiles out of the garage with brother Ken and brother-in-law Ernie. He worked hard and played hard. When arthritis got the best of him, he spent 35 winters in Arizona and summers on Prairie Lake.

Cody James Salo
Cody James Salo, 21, of Esko, Minn., was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, March 25, 2013. James and Brenda Salo were blessed with the birth of Cody James on May 21, 1991. Cody graduated from Esko High School in 2010 where he was an accomplished athlete and participated in track, golf and football. He received many awards including "The Hammer" for his leadership, skill, and strength on the field. Football was Cody's passion.

Eugene Craig Eller
Eugene Craig Eller, 63, of Barnum, Minn., passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at home. He was born April 22, 1949, in Superior, Wis., to Donald and Esther (Mahlman) Eller and graduated from Barnum High School. Gene worked in the finishing room for Potlatch Corporation/Sappi and was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, fishing and reading.

Carl F. Grangruth
Carl Ferdinand Grangruth, 80, of Moose Lake, Minn., passed away peacefully, Friday, March 8, 2013, at his home. He was born April 22, 1932, in Baudette, Minn., to Herman and Lydia (Johnson) Grangruth. Carl proudly served in the U.S. Army from March 1952 to March 1954 during the Korean Conflict. Carl was united in marriage to Beatrice Brigan on Feb. 2, 1985, in Cloquet. He was a life member of VFW Post #6206 of Menahga and VFW Post #3979 of Cloquet. Carl worked as a sandblaster and painter from coast to coast. He has worked in every state except Maine, Alaska and Hawaii. He retired from sandblasting in 1987 with siliceous and obstructive lung disease from sand, paint, chemicals, lead paint, etc. In later years, he built two new houses, remodeled five houses and a four-plex apartment building. Carl enjoyed working with wood and making furniture for his children and friends. In the winter months, Carl and Beatrice traveled to Arizona, California, Colorado and Florida. He loved deer hunting at his son's farm in Wadena, Minn., with his children and grandchildren. Carl especially liked visiting with his family and friends, playing cards and camping at Sturgeon Lake.
