Students speak out about bullying
Students at the Cloquet Area Alternative Education Program spent last Thursday doing activities based on the National Day of Silence, to bring awareness to GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual) individuals — or anyone with differences — who have been “silenced” by name-calling, bullying, etc. Some stories shared their own stories of bullying or abuse.

Audrey Sharon Smith
Audrey Sharon Smith, 87, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, in Sunnyside Health Care Center, Cloquet. She was born in Atkinson, Minn., on July 31, 1925, to John and Anna (Jacobs) Wolf. She was a school aide at Leach Elementary School, where she was affectionately known as “Moonie.” Audrey loved to spend time with her family.

Richard Joseph Prevost
Richard "Dick" Joseph Prevost, 71, of Kettle River, Minn., passed away April 23, 2013, with his family by his side, after losing his 12-year battle to prostate cancer. Dick was born to Richard Joseph and Evelyn (Ward) Prevost Sr. on April 10, 1942, in Cloquet, Minn. He was a 1960 graduate of Cloquet High School and a longtime employee of Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company in Duluth, Minn. He also worked for and retired from Edina Realty. Dick was an avid reader, painter, Catholic Church choir member, "garage saler" and gardener. He loved to hunt, fish, tell jokes and stories. "How big did you say those deer and fish were?" Though he had all girls, everything he was passionate about has been passed down through the generations.
