Pine Valley is already home to five kilometers of cross country ski trails, three ski jumps and a winter tubing hill, but a group of enthusiasts wants to add a snowboarding terrain park to the mix.

With the recent snow, kids are ski jumping at Pine Valley again. However, because copper thieves destroyed the tow rope motor earlier this year, each jumper has to remove his or her skis after completing a jump and carry them up the steps to the top of the hill to jump again.

Herbert Michael LeBlanc
Herbert M. LeBlanc, 62, of Wrenshall, Minn., and formerly of Proctor, Minn., passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, at Bayshore Health Care in Duluth, Minn., with his loving family by his side. He was born Aug. 4, 1949, in Duluth to Herbert and Clara (Halkins) LeBlanc and graduated from Proctor High School in 1967. Herb was united in marriage to Sandra Wise on July 17, 2009. He served in the United States Navy from 1967-1971; the Minnesota Army National Guards from 1973-1992; and the United States Army from 1990-1991 and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the Gulf War Service Medal. Herb worked for Zalk Josephs in Duluth from 1972-1979 and also the DM&IR Railroad from 1979-2001. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Life Member of the Disabled American Vets and the Northland Vietnam Veterans. Herb also loved cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing, golfing, XC skiing, ski jumping, downhill skiing, riding his Harleys, time in the woods on his bench, and especially spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
