Norman Louis Horner, 61, of Fairbanks, Alaska, has come home to our Lord. He peacefully passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. Norman was born in Cloquet, Minn., to John and Mary(Watson) Horner on June 22, 1951. He graduated from Barnum High School in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving eight years. Norman moved to Fairbanks in 1981, working on Ft. Wainwright Army base where he retired from.

Kenneth Woodrow Keuhn
Kenneth Woodrow Keuhn, 95, of Carlton, Minn., formerly of Ely, Minn., passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. He was born Nov. 2, 1916, to Charles W. and Bessie (Ellsworth) Keuhn in Mercer County, Mo. He attended grade school in Missouri, North Dakota and Minnesota. In the summer of 1935 and again in the winter of 1936-1937 Ken was enlisted with the Civilian Conservation Corps working in Minnesota and the state of Washington. While working on his sister's farm near Thief River Falls he met the girl he was looking for - Ruth Myhrer - and married her on Nov. 25, 1939. They moved to Ely in 1951 where he worked in logging and mine construction. He retired from DNR Fisheries in 1978 after 16 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, hobby farming and wood crafts in retirement. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Ely, Ely Senior Citizens and Ely Garden Club.

Joseph "Joe" L. Wojtysiak, 61, of Carlton, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Moose Lake, Minn., on May 2, 1951, to Frances (Gresczyk) and Joseph F. Wojtysiak. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He managed the VFW in Carlton for 18 years. Joe began working for Potlatch Corporation/Sappi Fine Paper in 1990 and recently retired due to health complications. Joe married Janet Cozzi on Feb. 14, 1987, and they resided and raised their children in Carlton for the past 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family. He was active with the Carlton Honor Guard Post 2962 for 39 years and served as captain for 35 years. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman and a diehard Vikings fan. He thoroughly enjoyed going to the hunting shack in Wright, Minn.
