Lloyd W. Sunnarborg
Lloyd W. Sunnarborg of Esko and Prairie Lake, Minn., died Friday, April 5, 2013. He was born July 30, 1926, to John and Fanny (Carlson) Sunnarborg in Thomson Township (Esko), Minn., and graduated from Lincoln High School. In 1945 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, Pvt 1st Class, and honorably discharged on Oct. 31, 1946. He was a longtime member of the Esko Volunteer Fire Department and a certified Minnesota state snowmobile safety instructor. Lloyd married M. Lorraine Merfeld of Cloquet, Minn., on Sept. 4, 1948. The outdoors was his church, fishing the world over and hunting at the "Great Silence," the wind at his back, the crunch in the forest, babbling of the brook, spray of the sea. "Lord take me by your side and guide my path to your great peace." Lloyd was a master angler of the province of Manitoba since 1967. He sold Skiroule snowmobiles out of the garage with brother Ken and brother-in-law Ernie. He worked hard and played hard. When arthritis got the best of him, he spent 35 winters in Arizona and summers on Prairie Lake.
