  • Firefighters will crawl into a fire one after another, because the air temperature is cooler near the floor and the visibility is better (although still limited).
  • The big stick is called a pike pole, and it is used for pulling down ceilings so firefighters can get at fire that's gone into the attic, moving things around with the big hook on the end. A pike pole can penetrate sheet rock.
