Brian M. Berg, 73, passed away on June 1, 2013, surrounded by family. He spent the past three months at Villa St. Francis receiving hospice care.
Brian was born July 7, 1939, in Superior, Wis., to Mahlon and Jean Berg. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior where he met his wife, Mary Lou, of nearly 52 years. Brian earned his master's degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., while teaching in the Waukegan, Ill., Public School System. Brian was a counselor and teacher in the Cloquet, Minn., Public School System from 1969 until he retired in 1993.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, and two daughters, Jean (Scott) Roof and Laurie (Jim) Plankers. He was a loving grandpa to one grandson, John, and six granddaughters, Alison, Kristine, Amanda, Madeline, Nicole and Emma. He is also survived by his brother David, sister Barbara (Dave) Almanzo, brother-in-law Fred (JoAnn) Gross and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 5, from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, Kan., with interment in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe.
