George Michael Powers, 94, of Buffalo, Minn., passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013. He was born on Sept. 23, 1918, in South St. Paul, Minn., and grew up near Hinckley, Minn. He served in World War II as a staff sergeant with the 103rd Infantry Division. He lived most of his life in Wrenshall, Minn., and worked at the Conoco Oil Refinery until his retirement. He most recently resided in Buffalo. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Powers, and his daughter, Georgia Carroll.
George is survived by his children, Robert Powers of Buffalo, Barbara (Richard) Cook of Moose Lake, Minn., Dennis (Sandra) Powers of Wrenshall, Carol (Norman) Stenzel of Texas, and Darold (Hilde) Powers of Carlton, Minn.; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Laura, Rachel, Jessica, Tran, Troy, Ken, Dawn, Cheryl and Lori; and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m., with a service at 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 9, at the Chapel at Park Terrace, 613 Montrose Blvd., Buffalo.
