Vera V. (Axtell) Jacksie Goldberg

Vera V. (Axtell) Jacksie Goldberg, 88, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Vera was born in Bovey, Minn., on Oct. 27, 1924, to Elmer and Codie (Kelley) Axtell. She moved to Cloquet at the age of 17 where she met and married Bernard Jacksie in 1943 and together they had four children. After Bernard’s death in 1969, she later married Norman Goldberg. Vera enjoyed time spent camping and fishing with her family, especially at Cottonwood Lake. She always enjoyed holidays including attending the Fourth of July and Labor Day parades in Cloquet. For many years she prepared wonderful holiday meals for her family, where her homemade apple pies were her specialty. She always enjoyed a good card game or a game of Yahtzee. In her later years, Vera enjoyed the fellowship of new friends at the Suncrest senior living facility where she was always up for a game of dominos, bingo or four corners.
