Robert “Bob” J. Howden
Robert “Bob” John Howden, 67, passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2012, while vacationing in Scottsdale, Ariz. Bob fought many battles with his health and did it with dignity and a very positive attitude. He never complained and was thankful for every day. Bob was born on June 11, 1945, to John and Helen (Lusk) Howden in Duluth, Minn. He graduated from Morgan Park High School and served with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam. He graduated from CalPoly College and received his Master’s Degree from UMD. He enjoyed teaching for 30 years in the Cloquet School District. His favorite pastimes were golf, hunting, fishing and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis. He is greatly loved and missed by his wife, Sandy; her children, Corrinne Abbott and Collette (Chris) Flynn; grandchildren, Sarah, Megan, Kevin, Senna and Liv; sisters, Judy Delich, Eileen (Orville) Johnson and Mary (Mark) Nystrom; and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to U of M-Fairview Transplant Center for their great care. To Mary and Mark for all their love and support, and to his niece, Heather, for giving Bob the ultimate gift of life through her organ donation.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service Saturday, Feb. 16, in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 West 3rd St, Duluth. Military honors will be accorded by the Carlton VFW Honor Guard.
