Mathilda 'Tillie' Valley

Mathilda “Tillie” Valley, 95, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Community Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 29, 1917, in Cold Spring, Minn., to Michael and Anna (Notch) Lardy. She married Leo Valley on April 19, 1939, in St. Cloud, Minn. Tillie was a resident at Cloquet Lighthouse for eight years.

Mathilda “Tillie” Valley, 95, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Community Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 29, 1917, in Cold Spring, Minn., to Michael and Anna (Notch) Lardy. She married Leo Valley on April 19, 1939, in St. Cloud, Minn. Tillie was a resident at Cloquet Lighthouse for eight years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in 1999 and nine siblings.

Tillie is the beloved mother of Joan (Vernon) Johnson of Cloquet and Leon (Deb) of Albany, Minn.; grandchildren, Randy (Alieca) Johnson of Wrenshall, Minn., Robin (Brent) Kulaszewicz of Cloquet and Ryan (Tara) Johnson of Cloquet; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Rick, Randi, Kurt, Dani´ and Mark Johnson and another due in April; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, from 4-6 p.m. in Handevidt Funeral Home, Cloquet, with a 5:45 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue on Monday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet.
