Sarah S. Horton, 66, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at her daughter's home in Kettle River, Minn., with her family at her side.
Sarah S. Horton, 66, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at her daughter's home in Kettle River, Minn., with her family at her side. She was born Oct. 26, 1945, in Cloquet to Wiljo and Aldeana (Moser) Ikola and graduated from Cloquet High School. Sarah was a life-long Cloquet resident and was a custodian and election judge at the Perch Lake Town Hall. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grama and aunt and will be remembered for the time she gave to all of us; watching children, taking us on vacations, teaching us patience, and hard work; and her "lead foot." Sarah enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and helping all of us any way she could.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Harold Korpi; and her husband, Delmor Horton.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandy (Scott) Warpula; three grandchildren, Emily, Olivia and Eli Warpula; two brothers, Edwin (Sandy) Ikola and James (Pixie) Ikola; special niece and nephew, Laura and Aaron Ikola; and her special dog, "Sparky."
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mercy Hospital homecare staff for helping Sarah through this transition.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 15, from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet. Interment service will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, followed by a luncheon in the funeral home fellowship room.
