"Wood duck" has a special place in my heart. Growing up, Wood duck would take us "Tuomi" kids trout fishing, to hockey games, baseball games, swimming at lakes.....those are my best memories of Wood duck. He loved us kids. I remember looking out our 14th street window on most days to see his "ford pacer" parking across the street, and I would holler "Wood duck's coming", he would be greeted by us kids with hugs and smiles. Wood duck knew with a family of six, money was tight and I can remember one time he made me a "guess" sweatshirt he printed as a gift, because he knew my parents couldn't afford to buy name brand clothing. I loved that sweatshirt. I wore it as much as I could. That is just what Wood duck did......he gave, to everyone....he offered his home, his friendship, his love and never asked for anything in return. I know this physical world was hard on you......you are in a better place, and I know you are watching over us "Tuomi" kids. Love You Wood duck.

I keep seeing an image of him in art classes in high school long ago. He was a deep and private person. I remember him doing a book of drawings then on his thoughts on a character - a wood duck- going to Mpls to go to school. I last saw him a few years ago. I cannot ever recall hearing a negative thing he said.
