Aldeana Viola Korpi

Aldeana V. Korpi, 87, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. She was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Pettibone, N.D., to Christ and Sarah (Rexine) Moser. Great-gramma will be remembered for the mittens and socks she knitted for Christmas and the homemade cream puffs made with real cream we all enjoyed. She lived in Tofte with Harold and logged and worked in the logging camps on the Sawbill Trail, picking pine cones and peeling popple. Gardening, picking berries, bird watching and mowing the lawn were some of the outdoor activities she enjoyed.

Aldeana was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Wiljo Ikola; second husband, Harold Korpi; brothers, Carl and Lawrence; sisters, Adeline, Alvina, Laverne and infant sister Laura; and son-in-law, Delmor Horton.

She is survived by her two sons, Edwin (Sandy) Ikola of Carlton, Minn., and James (Pixie) Ikola of Deerwood, Minn.; daughter, Sarah Horton of Cloquet; five grandchildren, Sandy, Joe, Aaron, Josh and Laura; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 2, from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Interment is in Maple Grove Cemetery, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall at Nelson Funeral Care.
