Leroy Edwin Hedlund (Hezzy), 83 , of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, Minn.

Leroy Edwin Hedlund (Hezzy), 83 , of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, Minn. Leroy was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Duluth. Leroy worked for Curtis Oil as an independent truck driver and as terminal manager of Quickie Transport. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Leroy was a lifetime member of the Carlton VFW, Carlton, Minn., and enjoyed bowling and hunting. He also served on the Carlton School Board and was All Conference in basketball in Alborn. Leroy always had a joke and funny story to share. He loved spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Hedlund and Isabel Weller, and brother Orel Hedlund.

Leroy is survived by his wife of 63 years Joline; children, Jeff (Cindy), Randy (Deb), Kathy and Tammy; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kevin, Casey (Jason) Youngberg, Scott (Jena), Jodi and Jon (BreAnna); brothers, Clayton and Brian; sisters, Sandy Levine and Nancy Sutak; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Soshea; and special friends Paula and Noah Olsen.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Zion Lutheran Church, Cloquet.
