Jon Fistler
Jon Fistler, 51, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at the home he shared with his companion, Beth Caldwell, in Fort Francis, Canada. Jon was born in Perham, Minn., on Aug. 19, 1960, to Raymond and Carol Fistler. He was a graduate of Perham High School, Moorhead State University and the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Jon worked as a veterinarian in Menomonie, Wis., Myrtle Point, Ore., and Cloquet and Albany, Minn., prior to his most recent position in Canada. Jon was previously in the Army Reserves and served during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and brother Jim.
He is survived by his stepson, Aaron Olsen (wife Sarah and son James of St Paul, Minn.); daughter, Lindsey Fistler (husband Rick Atkins of Superior, Wis.); son Mathew Fistler (wife Abby of Alexandria, Va.); daughter Molly Fistler (companion Isiah Johnson of Moose Lake, Minn.); and their mother, Jon's first wife, Ann Carlander (husband Burnell Peterson of Wrenshall, Minn.). He is also survived by his nephew, Michael Fistler (fiancé April Busche of Detroit Lakes, Minn.); sister, Nancy Sprecker (husband Jim of Aurora, Colo.); aunt, Lois Anderson of Cloquet; and ex-wives, Kathryn Sislo of Superior and Janet Dinsmore of Albany.
A memorial service, with military honors, took place on Saturday, Jan. 29, at Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlton, Minn.
