Joan M. Rich, 77, of Atascadero, Calif., formerly of Cloquet and Duluth, Minn., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011.
Joan M. Rich, 77, of Atascadero, Calif., formerly of Cloquet and Duluth, Minn., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011.
Joan was born July 10, 1934, in Duluth to Robert and Aileen VanKleek. She attended schools in Duluth, Coleraine and Cloquet, and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1952. She attended and graduated from Hamline University in 1956. Joan then moved to California where she met and married Dan Rich.
Joan is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dan, and their daughter, Janet (David) Weissman of Los Angeles, Calif., and their son, Michael (Denise) Rich of Atascadero. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Nicholas, Adam, Natalie and Naomi; sister, Ruth (Dale) Thorpe of Duluth; niece and namesake, Jennifer Joan (Craig) Yelle; and nephew, David (Brenda) Ruppel.
A celebration of Joan's life was held Sunday, Nov. 20, in Atascadero.
