Steve "Hot Dog" Johnson, 56, of Plymouth, Minn., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010.
Steve "Hot Dog" Johnson, 56, of Plymouth, Minn., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010. He was born Feb. 10, 1954, in Cloquet, Minn., to Milton and Margaret (McIntyre) Johnson. Steve grew up in Cloquet, attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Cloquet Senior High School in 1972. Steve worked for Potlatch and Wear-A-Knit Corporation and later attended Staples Technical School, graduating with a certificate in photography and graphic arts. He moved to the Minneapolis, Minn., area and worked for a company making rubber molds. In more recent years he worked for Brownsworth, Inc. Steve was dedicated to his job and enjoyed working with his fellow co-workers. He was a quiet, gentle person who loved art, nature and animals. He enjoyed getting together with his siblings, nieces and nephews for holiday celebrations. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. In his younger years he enjoyed drawing, painting and photography as hobbies.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Margaret, and one nephew, Mark Johnson.
He is survived by three brothers, Rick (Annette) Johnson of Mahtowa, Minn., Robert (Louwanna) Johnson of Cloquet and Thomas (Cindy) Johnson of Superior, Wis.; two sisters, MaryAnn (Ron) Salladay of Townsend, Mont., and Carol (Don) Sparring of Esko, Minn.; 10 nieces and nephews, Gary Johnson, Jeff Salladay, Dan Sparring, Seth Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Leah Coil, Betsy Whirley, Jessica Loucks, Amanda Ellefson and Richelle Lambert; and 13 great-nieces and nephews. Steve's gentle, caring ways will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the 5 p.m. service followed by refreshments in the fellowship room. Inurnment services will be at New Calvary Cemetery.
