Leslie Roy Southworth, 73, of Thomson, Minn., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, in his home with his loving family by his side.
Leslie Roy Southworth, 73, of Thomson, Minn., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, in his home with his loving family by his side. He was born March 25, 1937, in Duluth, Minn., to Harry and Violet Southworth. Leslie grew up in Esko, Minn., and graduated from Esko High School in 1955. He married Elaine Larson in Carlton, Minn., on Sept. 5, 1959. They made their home in Thomson and together raised two daughters. Leslie worked at Conwed for 33 years until retiring in 1985. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, especially his raspberry patch, and going to estate sales.
Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, in 2004 and a brother, LeRoy Southworth.
He is survived by two daughters, Ginger Kulaszewicz of Carlton and Shelly (Margarito Pena) Southworth of San Benito, Texas; his sister, Beverly (Harold) Hultberg of Florida; six grandchildren, Dean (Billie) Kulaszewicz, Brian and Brent Kulaszewicz, Julie (Paul) Morton, Amber (Sal) Guerra, and April (Jeff) Zahniser; four great-grandchildren, Savanah, Ava, Draven and Mackenzie; and a special niece, Sherry Teague of Idaho.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow at the Moose Lodge in Cloquet.
