Joseph Walter Anderson, 55, of Cloquet, Minn., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, in Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet.

Joseph Walter Anderson, 55, of Cloquet, Minn., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, in Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. He was born Feb. 25, 1954, in Sterling, Ill., to Walter and Joyce Anderson. Joe was a Viet Nam veteran serving in the Coast Guard. Joe married Pamela Martin on Oct. 25, 1975, in Cloquet. He worked for WLSSD for 19 years, retiring in 1998. He also coached youth hockey in Cloquet for many years during the 1980s. Joe enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting and camping. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful story teller. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Walter.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 34 years, Pam; two daughters, Amy and Andrea Anderson, both of Cloquet; a son, Creed Smith of Minneapolis, Minn.; his mother, Joyce Anderson of Deltona, Fla.; a brother, David (Kelly) Anderson of Deltona; a special Godchild, Brandon (Billie Jo) Grund; six grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends; and his canine companion, Bud.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nursing staff for the loving care they gave to both Joe and his family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Military Honors will be accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. A time of refreshments and fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
