Rosalyn Irene Pohjola

Rosalyn Irene Pohjola, 88, of Cloquet, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton, Minn. She was born in 1921 in Cloquet to Waino and Jenny Borin. Rosalyn was raised in Cloquet and was a member of the Class of 1939. She married Paul Pohjola on Dec. 14, 1940, in Cloquet and they celebrated their 65th anniversary prior to Paul’s death on Dec. 29, 2005. Rose was a warm and caring lady endearing herself to many friends throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose was active in the former First Congregational Church in Cloquet and together, she and Paul were very active church members teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Finlandia Beach Club and was a member of the former Cloquet Co-op Guild. Rose enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family in Florida and Washington. She and Paul also enjoyed fishing and camping.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; and three brothers, Melvin, Arnold and Richard Borin.

Rose will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Janet (Warner) Bodin of Carlton and Marilyn (Jim) Sorenson of Cloquet; her son, Ron (Beverly) Pohjola of Richland, Wash.; her eight grandchildren, LeeAnn, Julie, Donald, Jeffrey, Christine, Shawn, Jenifer and Rebecca; five great-grandchildren; her special cat, Will; and her many friends, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service on Wednesday, November 25, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
