Leslie 'Lardy' Frichoulf Johnson Sr.

Leslie "Lardy" F. Johnson Sr., 99, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet.

Leslie "Lardy" F. Johnson Sr., 99, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. He was born Feb. 2, 1910, in Cloquet to John A. and Ida (Swanson) Johnson. Lardy worked as a supervisor in the machine room for the Potlatch Corporation. He was an avid fisherman, loved hunting and was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Potlatch Quarter Century Club.

Lardy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle; one son, Leslie "Bubby" Johnson Jr.; six brothers, Reed, Willard, Rueben, Arthur, Guff and Harvey; and three sisters, Florence Erickson, Myrtle Thorpe and Emily Bloom.

He is survived by three grandsons, Gary (Joyce) Johnson of Cloquet, Kurt (Sally) Johnson of Cloquet and Ross Johnson of Eagan, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Donna Johnson of Cloquet; special friend, Lillian Carlson of Brainerd, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Jay (Lindsey) Johnson and Carmen (Craig) Purcell; two great-great-grandchildren, Connor and Carter Purcell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the fellowship room. Interment services will follow at Round Lake Cemetery.
