lthough Bakken got a $500 allowance in addition to the $1,000 scholarship for representing Cloquet all year long, she said most of the time she has simply worn something she already had in her closet at home. For the Community Memorial Hospital’s “At the Hop” fundraiser (below), Bakken sold raffle tickets and fit right in, with her bangs appropriately curled for the era and dressed in a shiny pink dress she picked up for $2.50 at the Goodwill store.
