Ryan Bryant, animal control officer for Friends of Animals, prepares to enter a rural Moose Lake home where an elderly man lived prior to being transferred to a nursing home. Some 29 cats and four dogs were found inside, the victims of apparant hoarding over an extended period of time. None of the cats, who were suffering various stages of neglect, could be saved. The dogs were brought to the FOA shelter in Cloquet, where they were given food, water and medications and are in the process of making a full recovery.
