“It was impossible not to fall in love with the kids,” she said. “Their big brown eyes will stay with me forever.”
Now that McCuskey has returned from the voyage, she is attending Wisconsin Indian Technical College to earn a nursing degree. She also plans to re-enlist in the 148th Fighter Wing of the Air Force in Duluth when her term expires in 2010. It’s a family tradition for her as her father, uncle and brother are or have been in the ranks as well.
