Fern Kathleen IsaacsonFern Kathleen Isaacson, 57, of Kettle River, Minn., passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, after a courageous and hard fought four-year battle with ovarian cancer. Fern was born Nov. 14, 1955, in Moose Lake, Minn., to Niilo and Mildred (Saarela) Isaacson. She grew up in the Kettle River area, attending Kalevala School through eighth grade, and graduated from Barnum High School in 1973. After graduation, she continued living in the area and worked at various jobs, including Nemadji Pottery and Tile and at the Moose Lake Regional Treatment Center. In 1986, Fern moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where she worked at the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. In 1995, she moved back to Kettle River to be with Kevin, her best friend and partner, and worked at Gateway Clinic and eventually for the State of Minnesota/MSOP in Moose Lake from where she retired in 2010. Fern also played a very important role in the Peura Contracting Business.
