Kenneth Everett HolmesKenneth Everett Holmes, 95, one of Wrenshall's pioneers, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his home. He was born May 22, 1918, in Wrenshall, Minn., to Winfield and Elizabeth (Yokum) Holmes and graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1936. Ken was united in marriage to Margaret Ziemski in Duluth on June 14, 1947. He worked as a farmer and also as bus foreman for the Wrenshall Public Schools, and was a member of Union Local 545. Ken served on the Wrenshall Community Development Association; served on the Wrenshall Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years; helped with the building of the Brickyard Restaurant; was an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club; a member of St. Francis Catholic Church; and had served many years as a board member for Pinewood Learning Center. He was born and passed away on the same family property.
