Winifred Mary Sarette

Winifred M. Sarette, 100, formerly of Cloquet, Minn., died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at her home at St. Ann's Residence in Duluth, Minn. She was born Dec. 23, 1912, in London, England. She served in the British Women's Royal Air Force during World War II. During the war she met and married William (Buck) Sarette of Cloquet, and immigrated to the United States in 1946. Winifred was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, Legion of Mary, National Council of Catholic Women, Duplicate Bridge Club, and was a church lector for many years. She worked as an Avon representative earning numerous sales awards, and served on the resident's council at St. Ann's. Winifred believed that life is a gift from God, and that we should use that gift to help others. She made a practice of being thankful, and she finished her life believing that not one bad thing had ever happened to her in all her hundred years.
