Ruth Johanna EzellRuth J. Ezell, 91, of Carlton, Minn., passed away on Tuesday morning, Aug. 21, 2012, at Essentia Health Care in Duluth, Minn., surrounded by her loving family. She was born Ruth Johanna Lundquist to Adolph and Alma (Mannisto) Lundquist on June 24, 1921, in Duluth. She was raised in Duluth and later moved to New York Mills, Minn., where she graduated from high school in 1939. Ruth went attended Hibbing Junior College for two years before going on to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Her education was interrupted by the attack on Pearl Harbor and declaration of World War II. She enlisted in the United States Army where she served as Chief Radio Operator. Ruth later continued her education at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She was employed as a laboratory technician by St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth and later as an educator at both the Moose Lake School District and Carlton School District from where she retired in 1984.
