Veteran firefighter named new chiefOne could say that incoming Cloquet Area Fire District Chief Kevin Schroeder has been a student of firefighting his entire life. Schroeder grew up across the street from his new office in the Scanlon Community Center (now also known as CAFD Fire Station 3), where his dad, Bill Schroeder, was a volunteer firefighter. The younger Schroeder completed his Firefighter 1 training when he was just 17 years old, and officially became a volunteer firefighter for Scanlon on his 18th birthday. He was hired by the Cloquet Fire Department as a full-time firefighter when he was 21.
