The hidden agendas with consolidation are truely exposed behind closed doors, both towns need there own identity. Educational funding cuts do not make a Teacher less of a Teacher or students more unwilling to learn. The Teachers have their hands tied and students can't be forced to learn what they don't want to. The curriculum is taught out of a book thru lesson plans decades old.The only life lessons taught are how not to get caught with your cell phone. So yeah..lets figure it out for the Teachers/administrators sake..more union stability with better benefits to all who have less goals and lower standards than there pupils without any accountability or blame for low tests scores. This stuff never happens for the sake of the kids..pfffft!Old School rules!

I think they should close south Terrace, and move the elementary kids into the high school and then put the high school kids in wrenshall... there should be sufficient room for all, and more money for the schools. I think the kids would get a better education if both districts had funding to get the kids what they need.

I think people are quick to jump to consolidation as the answer to all of our school problems. I'm not discounting it as a possibility, but if the Carlton School board can't handle the communication skills necessary for developing a paring and sharing agreement, I'm not sure they are ready for consolidation discussions.

I agree that these two school should of been combined along time ago. The one's who stand in the way base their position on factors that are not objective. Is it Wrenshall people who are objecting or groups from both school districts? Back in 69 I remember Wrenshall people felt they had a better position because of the oil refinery. Now that it's no more than a protected super fund site that cannot be the case. Is it the jocks or want to be jocks that want to protect the past. In these days when 44% of federal taxes go to the arm forces, schools themselves may be a thing of the past.

To the Community Members of Wrenshall and Carlton- Can we start the serious and meaningful discussions again, please? We need to talk about not only pairing and sharing, but on the possibility of consolidating our school districts. I know this is an emotional and controversial subject (as it's been for decades now), but can’t we come together and find some middle ground that will benefit both community's children? I really think that all of our kids are getting short changed. Our great grandparents and grandparents believed in providing a good public education for all Minnesotans. They worked hard to achieve that goal and Minnesota’s public education system used to be at the top of the nation’s list. It’s not anymore. It saddens me to witness, year after year now, the result of educational funding cuts and its negative impact on our children's education. It’s getting worse and worse. We’re falling behind and our kids deserve better. Come on people, shouldn't we be mad- or at least extremely concerned?! Please, stop and think about our future. How will our Wrenshall and Carlton kids compete (and I don’t mean on the field or on the court) with the rest of the state if we don't figure out a way to cooperate with each other? The writing's on the wall folks. Let's figure it out for the sake of the kids and these wonderful communities we live in. Kim Matteen Orlowski Carlton
