The economy has put a crunch on alot of new endeavors..giving a tax break won't do any good seeing as the previous developed lots arent selling...kinda like building a business park with no businesses even remotely interested because of the slow moving economy which will take years to recover. Having lived there for years all they did by expanding the city was to impose huge tax increases..the taxes on that new well are perfect example that expansion has actually hurt the city and its residents where it hurts the most..the pocketbook. It USED to be cheap to live there..that draw alone has been removed because of a bad move to expand at the wrong time. After drilling numerous wells i would imagine eventually they'll tack on a treatment facility cost tax increment next to satisfy the state. The economy is a dead quiet pool of water with no wind in sight. its only going to get worse before it gets better for any community..no one's going to purchase a new home when they can get such great deals on the thousands that have been foreclosed on.

Very good point Mike, I wonder how that compares with other small towns.

High water and sewer rates are a big reason people are not building in Wrenshall. Five years ago the rate was around $50 for two months and now the you would pay about $150 per month for a family of four. Talks of raising the rate is on going as well.
