When the Midway River washed over the Esko football, baseball, soccer and outdoor hockey facilities last June, it was the last straw for an aging sports complex.
Almost 15 months — and a $2.7 million referendum — later, the Eskomos and their fans began a new era Friday, when the football team took to the new SPRINTURF field to play a Homecoming game against Two Harbors.
To mark the occasion, skydivers jumped out of a plane bearing gifts.
