As I sit down to type this week’s news I’m getting ready to leave for the Retired Teacher’s Convention in Red Wing, Minn. This three-day convention is one of the things I like to do to keep in touch with my fellow retired teachers, and I have also met such wonderful folks from around the state, too. Bob will stay home to keep the home fires burning.
A big “thank you” to the folks from Upper Lakes Foods for the wonderful picnic dinner served at Villa Vista. We really appreciate it.

A couple of weeks ago, I celebrated my 68th birthday with a get-together at the Country Inn in Cromwell. Now I know the economy is tough for some folks, but a dear friend gave me half a birthday card. That is, just the front cover of the card with the verse copied from the inside and written on the front. Now that’s what I call RECYCLING! It was a very nice card and I’m sure I won’t forget the half a card for a long time. Maybe I’ll give her the same kind of card on her birthday from now on. Anyway, it made my day and I also thank those who gave me complete cards and gifts, too.
