Recently at Kids Corner School Age Childcare in Cloquet, two men from the Cloquet Honor Guard came to tell the kids about when they were in the Army during World War II. They talked about what they do now and they also showed the children how to properly fold a United States flag.
In 2011, Kids Corner sent care packages (cards, letters, pictures, snacks) to the Cloquet-based Crazy Troop when they were deployed to Kuwait. Sgt. First Class Troy Smith came to thank the kids and show some pictures of Kuwait. They flew a flag there in recognition of Kids Corner. Sgt. Smith presented the group with the flag and also gave them a plaque stating, “This flag was proudly flown by ‘Crazy Troop’ in proud recognition of the patriotism and support they received from Kids Corner.” It was flown over the skies of Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
The kids sell lemonade on Mondays around 12:30 p.m. (weather permitting) to raise money to support the troops.
