Korina Borash, 17, of Esko has been selected as a regional scholarship winner from the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program.
Borash was chosen from more than 35,000 nominees nationwide for making a positive impact in her community. Along with other students, she helped create the Esko St. Jude Committee which organizes an annual rally event at Esko High School. She devoted four years to fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a world renowned cancer research facility and treatment hospital where children diagnosed with catastrophic diseases can receive treatment at no cost. Thus far, the committee has raised more than $60,000 for St. Jude. Her efforts earned her a $1,000 scholarship from Kohl’s.
