The owners of a stolen 30-foot Keystone Sprinter travel trailer are heaving a sigh of relief this week — almost.
The locked trailer was reported stolen on July 5 from the owners’ driveway in the 600 block of Oak Street in Cloquet. A neighbor who was letting his dog out early that morning later reported seeing a red pickup truck hooking up to the trailer.
An investigation was launched immediately, and an appeal went out from Cloquet Police for information that might lead to the trailer and/or the person or persons responsible for the theft.
Working on a tip from the public, officers successfully located the trailer in rural southern St. Louis County on July 13. The trailer was recovered, transported and later processed at the Cloquet Police Department.
Deputy Police Chief Terry Hill said the trailer was located on private property and had sustained some damage.
“It appears someone had been in and out of it and pilfered through it,” said Hill.
No suspects or arrests have been made at this time, but Hill said the investigation continues.
“We are still actively working on some leads,” he indicated.
Cloquet Police Department officials stated they would like to thank the public and the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office for their help and urged anyone who has information about the stolen trailer to contact the Cloquet Police Department at 218-879-1247.
The owners of the trailer refrained from making any comment since the investigation is still underway.
