The popular Hot Summer Nights Concert Series kicks off this week at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. The series of free concerts are held in the college’s outdoor-indoor amphitheater. Performances are open to the public and will be held from 7-9 p.m. every Thursday evening for four weeks from July 11 to Aug. 1. All concerts will be held rain or shine under the dome of the spectacular amphitheater.
“This is our 15th summer that we will have presented free concerts at the college,” said Tom Urbanski, director of public information at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. “The series has been a great success since we first started, being very popular among families and individuals, many who keep coming back every summer to hear great music in a wonderful setting.”
The 2013 Hot Summer Nights Concert Series features three new acts to the concert series and one crowd favorite from past seasons.
Todd Eckart, a fabulous musician, vocalist and entertainer who crosses over multiple musical genres, will open the series on July 11. On July 18, Breanne Marie & The Front Porch Sinners will take the stage to perform country and bluegrass-tinged acoustic favorites. July 25 brings Celtic superstar Todd Menton and his amazing musicianship, humorous stories and edgy songs to the amphitheater. The Aug. 1 concert presents the only group to play all 15 years of the concert series, Rock-a-Billy Revue featuring leader Don Buck.
“It’s always fun to hear from people who tell us that they look forward to the concerts each summer, and then they prove it by showing up each week,” said Urbanski. “We try to provide a variety of musical acts, something different each week, and always showcase high-quality, professional performers.”
In addition to the Thursday evening concerts, the college will host three Monday evening concerts by the Cloquet Community Band. These hour-long concerts are also free and begin at 7 p.m. each week on July 15, 22 and 29. On July 22, a young group of talented music students called All About Music will share the concert time in a special presentation.
Each entertaining evening of music is designed for family fun and for people of all ages. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets or seat cushions to sit on. Beginning at approximately 6:15 p.m. each Thursday concert evening, the Chefs’ Marketplace Outdoor Grill Barbeque Wagon will sell food specialties.
The Hot Summer Nights Concert Series is completely sponsored by Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College and is presented free of charge to the people in the communities the college serves, as well as summer visitors to the area. Everybody is welcome to attend.
