Liz Litke, originally of Cloquet and a recent graduate of Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind., is the recipient of a special award as announced by the college’s athletic department. A four-year member of the Belles swim team, Litke received the 2013 Improvement Award, presented in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contribution to Saint Mary’s athletics over a four-year period. Litke finished 14th in an event she had only just started competing in collegiately the year before after cutting more than nine-hundredths of a second off her time earlier that same day with a 2:45.38 at this past February’s conference championship meet. That time was more than a 13-second improvement upon her finish in January 2012 when she swam in 2:58.54 in a dual meet against Olivet.
Karly Bergstedt of Esko graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stout at the school’s May 23 commencement ceremony.
