James William Beatty, 86, of Cromwell died Thursday, May 16, 2013, in Essentia Health/St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth. A memorial service was held on May 23, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home.
Toini J. Haapoja of Moose Lake and formerly of Tamarack died on her 93rd birthday, May 22, 2013, in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 28, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home.
Amber Lehti, daughter of Scott and Christie Lehti, was confirmed recently at St. John’s Lutheran in Wright. She is the granddaughter of Bud and Linda Lehti and John and Joyce Manninen and the great-granddaughter of Dorothy Groth.
Congratulations to Brandi Peterson who won the Senior Art Exhibit with her graphite drawing titled “A Matching Pair.” This artwork will be on display in the permanent collection at the Cromwell-Wright School library.
Congratulations to the newest peer helpers who have chosen to help all members of our educational community: Amber Cahoon, Kendall Houck, Analiisa Jokinen, Paige Stenson, Bailey Gibbs, Jenna Ramberg, Andrea Hakamaki, Jennifer Koenig and Kiiera Anderson. The third annual Kaleb Anderson 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday, July 6, at the Cromwell Pavilion. The run starts at 8:15 a.m. and the walk at 8:25 a.m. There will also be a pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m. Cost is $20 for the Run/Walk. There will also be a kids triathlon (10 and under) starting at 9:30 a.m. Cost for kids (10 and under) is $5. The pancake breakfast is a free-will donation. All proceeds from the Run/Walk will go towards purchasing playground equipment for the Cromwell Pavilion Park. The proceeds from the pancake breakfast go to the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis. Bethlehem Church Plant and Rummage Sale will take place on Friday, May 31, from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church in Wright. Donations are welcome all day on Thursday or Friday, May 30 and 31. Call 218-357-2385 for more information.
Camp Noah is coming to Cromwell! Kids won’t want to miss out on fun games, skits, songs, crafts and puppet shows. Camp Noah will be held in Cromwell July 8-12 at Bethany Lutheran Church. This camp is unique because it’s all about building resiliency in kids, especially kids impacted by disasters like the Northland flash flood. Camp Noah is sponsored by Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota and Bethany Lutheran Church, and is open to all elementary-age children (completed kindergarten through sixth grade). Steve Hallgren, our Carlton County Thrivent representative, is dealing with cancer. We keep Steve in our prayers and prayers for others in a similar situation. There will be Thrivent Financial Open House honoring the career of Steve Hallgren and to thank him for all he’s done on Wednesday, June 5, from 4-7 p.m. at the Clyde Iron Works Event Center, 2920 W.
