Walfred "David" Dixon Jr., 74, of Aitkin, Minn., formerly of Duluth, Minn., died Monday, April 22, 2013 at his home.
He was born April 20, 1939, in Harney, Minn., the son of Walfred and Virginia (Wizbiski) Dixon. He grew up and attended schools in Cloquet, Minn. He then worked at the paper mill in Cloquet for a time. He married Helen H. Granholm on Aug. 11, 1958, in Carlton, Minn. They lived in Duluth where he worked on the boats and also as a security guard at St. Mary's Medical Center for the Pinkerton Co. He was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and crafts.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
David is survived by his wife, Helen Dixon of Aitkin; sons, Dale (Shelby) Dixon and Duane Dixon, both of Duluth; daughter, Darla (John) Heins of Aitkin; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Dixon of Detroit, Mich., and Diane Dixon of Cloquet; and brother, Douglas Dixon of Cloquet.
No services will be held.
