Snow storm creates difficult driving, as well as early closing for schools and many businessesWith the snowstorm in full force, area schools and all Carlton County offices are shutting down early today.
Be careful out there.
According to Minnesota State Patrol Regional Public Information Officer Sgt. Curt S. Mowers, there have been a number of accidents in the Duluth District today between 6 a.m. - 2 p.m., including:
18 prop dam crashes
2 personal injury crashes
10 vehicles off road
"Drivers need to slow down," Mowers said. "Many pick-up truck and SUV drivers are driving way too fast."
He offered these other tips:
+ Drive with headlights on at all times
+ Buckle up
+ Allow plenty of time to get to where you need to go, but don’t drive
unless you have to.
+ Stay back from snow plows
"This snow is heavy and wet, but drifting is occurring," Mowers said. "There is a danger of being forced into the opposing lane by heavy slush."
