There were many, many folks attending the memorial service for Jennie Waisanen on April 1. She was a beloved member of the Walli/Harp/Waisanen families and it was truly an honor to hear from the many friends and relatives as they paid tribute to her. She will be long remembered by all that knew her and the folks in the surrounding communities will also miss her.
The Carlton County Retired Educators will meet at the Moose Lake Senior Dining Center on Tuesday, April 23, at 11:30 a.m. They will eat at the dining program followed by their meeting. All area-retired educators are encouraged to attend. But, they need a lunch count, so please call Jennie at 218-357-2385 to sign up, or just come at 12:15 p.m. for the meeting. All retired school employees are welcome, not just teachers.
Lake Country Power’s annual meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 22, at the Timber Hall in Embarrass, Minn. Registration and dinner begin at 5 p.m. and the meeting is at 6:15 p.m. District 8 Director Jim Huhta will be up for re-election so watch your ballots that will come in the mail soon. Also running for this seat is former director Danny Smith. Be sure to read the inserted newsletter in your electric bill for more information or go to the LCP website.
There will be a Pancake Breakfast at the Barnum Community Center on Friday, April 12, from 8:30-10 a.m. A $3 charge will be collected and everyone is welcome to attend. The TRIAD meeting will take place after the breakfast. Proceeds go to TRIAD of Carlton County.
The Cromwell Sno-Gophers will hold their 30thAnnual Bingo Night on Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. at the Sno-Gophers Clubhouse. There will 10 free games, free lunch and drawings, too. Plan now to attend for a good evening of fun and also supporting a great cause.
ATV training classes by the Evergreen PAC ATV Club will be held on the following dates: April 27 at the fire hall in Barnum, May 4 at the Cromwell Pavilion, and May 18 at the fire hall in Palisade. The Women of Bethlehem Lutheran in Wright will hold their Annual Mother-Daughter Tea and Luncheon on Saturday, May 11, at 1:30 p.m. This year’s special entertainment will be Elijah Generation — two gals from the Carlton area who play instruments and give witness to our Lord. Please plan to attend this special event.
May 11 is also the Friends of Animals Annual Rummage and Bake Sale at the Cloquet Armory. This is always a well-attended event.
I will lead the worship services at Round Lake (9:30 a.m.) and Tamarack Presbyterian (11 a.m.) churches on April 14 and 21. Please plan to attend.
