There was no water skiing at this year’s City Ski Meet in Cloquet, unlike the balmy event last March.
Still, the competition was hot between youth ski jumpers and cross country skiers of all ages at Cloquet’s beautiful Pine Valley Sunday afternoon.
Competitors and audience members came from Carlton County, Duluth and Coleraine. Former champions — Scott and Mike Sobczak and Rick Bergquist — from Cloquet’s days as a dominant force in both sports helped judge the competition.
The longest jump of the day was 32 meters, completed by 12-year-old Aidan Ripp off the 40-meter jump.
