Army National Guard Spec. Adam J. Isakson and Army National Guard Pvt. Samantha L. Oland have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, Isakson and Oland studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Isakson, son of Jeffery and Christine Isakson of Cloquet, is a 2007 graduate of Cloquet Senior High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.
Oland, daughter of Jeff Oland of Holyoke and Jennifer Blume of Hibbing, Minn., graduated in 2012 from Wrenshall High School.
