Wright-Cromwell News

Well, we finally got it! SNOW that is! I guess most folks that stay around for winter love to have some snow on the ground, and now we have it. We got between 8-10 inches this weekend. Sure makes it bright and clean looking again. Also creates some job security for our snowplowing folks.

We need help in locating a jacket. While attending Bob Beck’s funeral at Bethany Church in Cromwell, there was a mix up of jackets, and someone went home with the wrong jacket. A man’s black Columbia jacket is missing which had car keys in the pocket with a Mercy Hospital keychain attached. There was a similar black jacket left at the church with no info in it. So if anyone finds they have the wrong jacket or hears about a mix-up of jackets, it can be left at the church where the other jacket is waiting for its owner, or can contact Bucky at 218-273-4122.

Did you know that Irene (Richards) Carlson is the new meat cutter at the Co-op Store in Wright? She has added several new products to the line of meats sold, including homemade potato sausage, silta and other specialties. Stop in and give it a try.

MaryRose Varo sent me the following message: “Musicians of all ages and persuasions join voices in ‘One Common Hope.’ Much help is still needed for flood victims in our area. ‘One Common Hope,’ a ‘fund raising for the flood’ project, hopes to raise awareness of this need and generate revenue through a web-commercial that centers around celebrating what happens when people join together to help. The song will include a community choir at the end singing the final chorus of the song. If you would like to join your voice with others in this endeavor please come to Holy Angels Church from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 to rehearse and Feb. 24 (same time and place) to record the song. The more we come together.... the better things are.”

I have heard rumors that some of our area post offices will be reduced to four hours a day, but there are no definite dates set at this time. The Saturday rural delivery will be stopped the week of Aug. 5 as far as we know. So, don’t plan on going out to your mailbox on Aug. 13.
